What Can I Do With My Obsession?

What can I do with my obsession?
With the things I cannot see
Is there madness in my being?
Is it wind that blows the trees?
Sometimes you're further than the moon
Sometimes you're closer than my skin
And you surround me like a winter fog
You've come and burned me with a kiss

And my heart burns for you
And my heart burns

And I'm so filthy with my sin
I carry pride like a disease
You know I'm stubborn God and I'm longing
to be close
You burn me deeper than I know
I feel lonely without hope
I feel desperate without vision
You wrap around me like a winter coat
You come and free me like a bird

And my heart burns for you
And my heart burns for you

The more astute of you will recognise the above as the lyrics to Obsession by Delirious. I'd have to say that it's one of the best songs they've ever written. Musically, and especially lyrically, it just hits the right note.

It has also been covered by David Crowder Band - highly recommended!

A Chosen People…

You are amazing.

You are loved.

You are chosen.

Three simple sentances. Three simple words. Yet how many of us forget these things each and every day? You can start reading the bible at Genesis, and finish it at Revelations, and you will find the same theme running across every page, through every book. God loves you.

He loves you enough to create a planet suitable to our needs.

He loves you enough to provide for you.

He loves you enough so much that he sent his Son for us.

From the beginning of time, God has longed to fellowship with us. That was the whole point of the Garden of Eden - God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. God has an unquenchable desire to be in a relationship with us. After all…

Psalms 139:14-15 [MSG]:

You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day.

What an amazing thought… But how much does God know about you? Everything! He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30, Luke 12:7). He knows the words you say before they have left your mouth (Ps 139:4). He's chosen you as someone he wants to get close to. Someone he wants to talk with, to share with, to bless.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God…

We are a chosen people - God has chosen you specifically. The same God that hung the stars in the sky (Ps 8:3) wants to get to know you today! What's holding you back?
